A lair of beautiful chinese men...the sweet smell of floral perfumes...smooth elegant bodies lie around a bed draped with traditional Asian decor....Is this heaven you ask? If it's not, it's pretty damn close! This is the world of Musk Ming!
1.Tell us what a 'muskboy' is all about.It’s all about China, the land where I come from(even though I’ve lived and worked in Berlin for several years).
The word “musk” (“She Xiang” in Chinese) is a luxurious perfume and traditional Chinese medicine.
And a “muskboy” is the boy-beauty in my ancient Chinese gay eyes. It may be quite different than the western taste, but the difference makes the world interesting.
2.What medium do you usually work in?I do Chinese traditional watercolor, I do pen-drawing with Indian ink, I do Acrylic and oil, and I even do digital art with vector graphics software…my art is still “enveloping”, I like to try different medium and possibilites.
3.What type of music would a muskboy be listening to at any given moment?
For me music is kind of like the cuisine, I don’t limit myself by choosing only particular type of music.
What I like to listen to should be something creative, something dramatic or interestingly crazy, something mixing the old and new, something extremely sad or something with a sense of humor …
4.You say your pictures are like poems and stories wandering through a world of erotic art...what is your favorite personal written story/poem/or author?
Yes, actually I write too, but until now only in Chinese.
There were also many gay stories in the classical Chinese literature, I hope someday they could be translated.
My favorite authors are Gabriel García Márquez, Wang Xiaobo and Eileen Chang.
5.If one of your 'muskboys' were to come to life what would be the first thing you would find them doing?It could be like all the boys in the ancient China, they playing Guqin(a plucked seven-string Chinese traditional musical instrument), Weiqi (a traditional Chinese strategic board game), doing Chinese calligraphy, writing and reading poems, singing songs or even the Chinese opera, even though it might sound not so erotic for today.
