Birdsong

We love zines just as much as the next person so you can imagine our delight and joy when we received the fantastic 'Birdsong' in the mail recently. Laced together with a delicate yellow hand binding this bi-monthly zine based in Brooklyn, NY is full of reader submitted artwork, poetry, and more. As if all that wasn't cool enough, our zine came with a another companion mini-zine purely dedicated to the malt liquor beverage known as 'Sparks'. Within it's pages are reader submitted stories recalling their experience with Sparks and the caffeine that was once included in the beverage. Fine reading on a Sunday morning (or any morning as a matter of fact).

Each zine that is released is accompanied by live readings at a venue called Stainbar in Brooklyn.

Here Comes--->Flit Magazine

There's a new magazine coming called FLIT, "The Men's Magazine That Likes To Take It's Clothes Off." It will be a reader contributed 'scrapbook' of sorts featuring nude male photography, art, graphic work, and multi-cultural text. They are currently taking submissions from artists, photographers, writers, and other queer visionaries who would like to share their work with the world in an UN-censored format. Eerie Queerie / Fake

These two particular recommendations are considered "boy love" titles which focuses on boy/boy relationship stories for women. They are both fun and interesting though for any gender or orientation.


<---'Eerie Queerie' (published in the US by Tokyopop) is a short book series about a boy named Mitsuo that often becomes possessed by mostly female ghosts. They make him do strange things that include being inappropriate to other male students. Hilarity, jealousy, and even attempted murder ensue as unique relationships are formed between both the boys and the passing spirits.


<---'Fake' (also published in the US by Tokyopop) is about two New York cops who have a love for the law AND each other. Shy cop Ryo joins the police force sparking the interest of cocky new partner, Dee. They solve mysteries and crimes and end up getting into several sticky love triangle situations.
